Fee Waivers

TalkingParents may offer fee waivers for eligible users who meet certain financial hardship or court-documented safety criteria. Fee waiver requests are reviewed by our Support team and require supporting documentation.

Submission of documentation does not guarantee approval. Additional information or account action may be required before a request can be reviewed or applied.

Fee Waiver Options

TalkingParents currently offers two types of fee waiver options:

  1. A financial hardship waiver for eligible users who are unable to pay for subscription access.
  2. A court-documented safety waiver for eligible users who are victims of domestic violence or are otherwise protected through qualifying court documentation.

Each request is reviewed based on the information and documentation provided.

Before You Apply

To help avoid delays, please review the following before submitting a fee waiver request:

  • Documentation must clearly support the eligibility of the TalkingParents account holder requesting the fee waiver. Documentation for another person, including a child, household member, family member, or co-parent, may not be accepted.
  • A court order requiring the use of TalkingParents does not qualify someone for a fee waiver. Fee waiver eligibility is based on the outlined documentation submitted for financial hardship or court-documented safety circumstances.
  • For court-documented safety requests, the requesting account holder must be listed as the protected party, victim, recipient, or otherwise supported person in the documentation provided.
  • If your account has an active subscription, promotional access, or another form of account coverage, your request may be delayed or denied. Additional steps may be required before waived access can be applied.
  • Fee waiver requests are reviewed per account. If you use more than one TalkingParents account, you may need to submit a separate request for each account. Approval for one account does not guarantee approval for another account.
  • Approved waived access is applied based on the waiver option reviewed and approved by TalkingParents. Waived access cannot be changed, upgraded, downgraded, cross-graded, or exchanged for a different subscription tier.
  • While using waived access, you may still purchase eligible add-ons or one-time purchases, such as calling minutes or Records, when available.
  • Most documents must be dated within 90 days. IRS transcripts are exempt from that requirement.

Financial Hardship Waiver

A financial hardship waiver may be available to users who are unable to pay for TalkingParents subscription access and can provide qualifying documentation.

If approved, financial hardship waived access provides access to the Essentials plan for one year.

Accepted Documentation:

  • Court-issued indigency determination,
  • Court fee-waiver approval, OR
  • Court order referencing inability to pay

AND

  • SNAP award letter,
  • SSI award letter,
  • Medicaid award letter,
  • Unemployment benefits determination,
  • IRS Tax Return Transcript (most recent filed tax year), OR
  • IRS Verification of Non-Filing Letter

Documentation must identify the requesting TalkingParents account holder as the person receiving financial assistance, court-approved fee relief, or other qualifying financial hardship support.

Court-Documented Safety Waiver

A court-documented safety waiver may be available to users who are victims of domestic violence or are otherwise protected through qualifying court documentation.

The court-document must also be currently active.

If approved, court-documented safety waived access provides access to the Enhanced plan for six months.

Accepted Documentation:

  • Protective order
  • Temporary protective order
  • Restraining order
  • Court injunction
  • Other court documentation showing a qualifying safety-related circumstance

Documentation must identify the requesting TalkingParents account holder as the protected party, victim, recipient, or otherwise supported person in the court-documented safety circumstance.
