Alternating weeks, AKA the 50/50 schedule is one of the easiest to input into the Shared Calendar. This schedule has a child spend one week with one parent, and the following week with the other parent, alternating each week.
To create this schedule, parents must create two Repeating Event Series, one for Parent A and one for Parent B. Each series would be set to repeat every other week.
Follow the steps below to create an Alternating Weeks schedule while using the iPhone app:
- From the Calendar section of your account select the three dots icon in the top-right hand of the screen and select Add event
- Enter the "Title" (ex: Parent A)
- Select a "Category Color" (this step is optional but useful for customizing events on the calendar. Please note: your co-parent will not be able to see the colors you have chosen for your events)
- Select a "Start date" (ex: First day of Parent A's Repeating Event Series)
- Select a "Start Time"
- Select an End date" (ex: Last day of Parent A's Repeating Event Series)
- Select an "End time"
- Select "Repeat" and enter how often you want the event to occur (for this schedule, select "Weekly")
- Under "Repeats every" select "Other week" and then "Done"
- Under "Notes" enter any notes regarding the event (Optional)
- Click "Save"
In the example below, Parent A's seven day event begins on a Sunday and ends on a Saturday, and Parent B's seven day event begins on the following Sunday and ends on the following Saturday. Each parent's event repeats every other week, causing the schedules to alternate:
